So today and almost a month after we sent our medicals, we received an e-mail saying

"Dear Sir/Madam,
This refers to your application for permanent residence in Canada.

The processing of your application will be completed and immigration visas issued once you mail us the following:

1) Original passports (not photocopies) valid for international travel for yourself and for each member of your family who will be accompanying you to Canada.

2) Payment of the Right of Permanent Residence Fee for the head of family and spouse (if applicable). For details of current amount and method of payment please see the following page of the web site: http://www.international.gc.ca/missions/italy-italie/visas/payment_method_paiement-eng.asp

We expect to receive the required documents within 30 days from the date of this e-mail. On receipt of the passports and correct RPRF, visas will be issued for entry to Canada before: 10/09/2013.

No changes or extension to your visa will be possible after it is issued.

If you wish to use a courier service for return of your passport or documentation, you must provide a pre-paid, pre-addressed courier airwaybill when you send your passport. We will advise you when your visa is ready so you can contact your courier with pick up instructions. You should record the airwaybill number that you provided for return delivery so that you may track the delivery yourself. We will not contact courier companies on your behalf.

FOR ALBANIAN RESIDENTS: If you wish to use AC (Albanian Courier for delivery and pick up of your passport and visa you must contact Albanian Courier directly www.albaniancourier.al (strongly recommended).

So, I take it as good news! Could you please tell me based on your valuable experience:

1) what does it mean by "We expect to receive the required documents within 30 days from the date of this e-mail. On receipt of the passports and correct RPRF, visas will be issued for entry to Canada before: 10/09/2013."

2) if you can guess how fast we may get our passports back considering that we will send them tomorrow?

Thank you

i can see your timeline, very interesting. I cannot start hoping that we might be able to move in 2012...

My timeline refers to the VO's request dates. I sent the passports on the 26th September and they emailed me to pick 'em up on the 16th of October. For sure you will be able to move by the end of 2012. I prefer one last winter in Greece than Canada.

I know that winters in Canada might be rough but I can't wait to move. As soon as the visas are here, we will move in 2-3 weeks. I hope this can happen in 2012. What is your plan?

We wanted to first get the visa in our hands before planning anything.
Now we are thinking to land around March and we research a lot to be prepared as much as possible. Cities, job market, health, infrastructure etc. We still haven't decided where, but we narrow it down slowly slowly. You already picked your city?

we have picked Toronto only because we have friends there and we read some things about it. Needless to say that if a great job opportunity arises, we can move anywhere. I admire you for you patience to be able to move now but wait for another 5 months! I don't think I could ever do it!

We waited for 1,5 year...few months won't make a difference. If it was spring prob we'd go sooner, but now...
I want to plan everything ahead (or at least as much as I can), and since we both work right now we are not in a great hurry.
Me on the other hand couldn't do what you are doing. In 2-3 weeks? Oh, I would be so stressed...
