Dear All,

I am posting it on behalf of my friend.

The colour of her family's passports has gone fade (not that fade, everything is legible ), as well as the paper is affected by washing.

Can she travel on this passport, or she will have to get it renewed?

Regards,

Nashe

Anyone with the relevant info/exp, please!

Based on personal experience, some immigration officers do pick on issues like this. Get it change to be on the safe side, don't count on it that you will always be lucky to get away with it.

As mentioned by other members, it varies from immigration officer to officer. I know a case of a flight steward in PIA, with the same issue. He traveled on that passport even to USA and UK without a problem. But I guess you could say his luck ran out, as an immigration officer in Pakistan caught it and made an issue out of it. The steward was unfortunately arrested and released after 2 days, once it was confirmed that the water damage did not wash off any entry stamps.

Another colleague of mine with the same issue was a frequent traveler based in Dubai. He was asked very politely by an immigration officer in India, when he went for his vacations to have a new passport made. So he was very lucky.

So please tell your friend to renew it, you never know when your luck will run out.
