Passport to expire in less than 6 months

I would like to travel to Canada by car from NY in July 2020. My passport will expire in October 2020. Will I be able to cross the border.

Are you travelling for what would be considered essential travel given there are strict border controls in place through July 21

Canada does not have a 6 month rule for travel as far as passports are concerned
