Hello someone advise on the situation. My wife is the principal applicant, and we recently got our Permanent Residence card. Her passport however was recently stolen/misplaced (i really don't know how :-[) We have all the papers and forms that were sent with our permanent residence cards. How do we go about getting a new one? She has already made plans to get a brand new passport from our home country, and intends on travelling to the main embassy (which is very close to our home country) from which the PR cards were issued, and explaining the situation to them. Is that all she needs to do? do we need any other documents, etc? How long do we wait before they issue a new card in the passport or is it instant? Thanks all replies welcome.

hi.

please enlighten us more. first, i will assume that you're already in canada, considering that you already hve your PR's. am i right? how was the pp lost/stolen? in your possession, in transit?

Call the embassy first, ask what their procedure is.
In amongst all your paperwork for PR you will have copies of the detail (picture) page of your passport, that will help the embassy a lot.

Sorry a mistake on my part. We do not have the PR cards yet, we have the VISAS on our passports. (I tend to mistake those 2) It's the visa my wife misplaced along with her passport. Anyone know what paperwork she will need to get when she's going to the embassy for a replacement visa in a new passport?

Your original post was confusing as you stated that you made arrangement for a new passport from your home country. It means you are out of your country now. Then, how she can travel to home country without her passport. Why did'nt you try at your local embassy for a replacement passport?.
It appears you have not clearly made your post as it looks vague. However, after getting new pasport she can try for new visa stamping at the Canadian embassy from where visa issued. She need to take the original CPR also while contacting the embassy.
