Passport Sent to New Delhi Embassy DIRECTLY for TRV stamping

Hello friends,

I recently applied for Visitor Visa Online for my mother-in-law. We received a passport request on our CIC portal dashboard in a week. After that, my mother-in-law sent her passport to New Delhi Embassy directly along with passport request letter print on 29th Oct 2014. We are still waiting for it to be returned.

I understood from a colleague of mine that, for TRV specifically, we have to submit our passport to VFS for dispatch to ND Embassy and NOT directly send it. Please advise if someone has encountered a similar scenario.
