They have requested me my passport (Startup-Visa).

I don't live neither in Canada nor in US. So as instructed I have sent them an email telling them my situation.

I live in Costa Rica.

My questions are:

  • What should I expect will happen? What sort of instructions will they give me?
  • How long does it usually take to get a response?
  • How long does it usually take to get my passport back?

There are cases here where applicants have received PPR request and have also had the following line mentioned in that request:

"If you or any of your family members are residing outside North America and you are unable to send your/their passport(s) to Canada and/or to provide a return mailing address in North America, contact us at CPC-CTD-Ottawa@cic.gc.ca so that we can make arrangements to print visas at another office."

Your best bet is to first contact your current VO via their email. If you don't get response soon, initiate contact with Canadian Embassy in Costa Rica. Since you have not mentioned your current VO (visa office) which is processing your case and have requested for your passports, it's really hard to tell you the exact time of you getting response. However, generally PPR can take around a month or two to process.

I would request you not to send courier to another country as some countries do not allow sending passports via courier. Check your country's laws first if you want to courier or else, your passports, if intercepted, will be seized by customs (not canadian customs)

My office is the Ottawa one.

I did receive the notification telling me to contact them over that email. I sent my email like a week ago. Does that mean they will give me a response in one or two months?

Try using Ottawa - Case Specific Enquiry . I generally use to get faster response from these forms. Also mention previous references of you contacting them.

Hm. I'm not sure if I should use that form. I mean, they quite literally told me to email them through that address so I did.

Were you in the same situation?

Not exact same situation, but similar. I contacted them on both mediums (email and CSE). I received reply via CSE quicker than email.

Hello,

I used the CSE option and got a response to my email. The response says "Ready for Visa (Mexico)". I imagine that Mexico is the one that processes visas for Costa Rica.

They are asking me for my passport, photos, RPRF (which I paid a long time ago), a prepaid airway bill and other details.

However, I have no idea how to send this to Mexico! The email has at the bottom a header saying "Submitting your passport(s) in Canada (CPC-O)" but that's for people inside Canada!

How do I send this via Courier to Mexico if they don't give me an address?

Also, they ask me for the address in Cana where I intend to live. Are they talking about where I am going to live permanently? I still don't have a home or anything there. I intend to find an apartment for a while first.
