It mostly means approved. They want your passport to approve it. If your visa was rejected then they wouldn't want the passport. Let them sort out the issue, but most probably your visa has been approved. Give them time to sort it out.

i got the same email from islamabad embassy on 29th nov asking for my passport, there was no pdf file (letter) attached with the email. I have applied paper base and i have already submitted my passport

Many people received the email from islamabad to submit their passports. It was an error as we have already submitted. But the pdf file was the main thing as it means your visa is approved. You should wait a little. IA you'll get is soon!

Well i think you need to discuss with some expert consultant because they might have dealt with this kind of case, so dont make it late and consult them as soon as possible
