Passport Request For TRV, but new passport issued

Hello folks,

I have received passport request for TRV but I had applied using my old passport and now I have received new passport. The Old passport was going to expire next year in Feb 2023. Talking to IRCC, they have asked to submit both the passports(old and new) and it is upto visa officers direction to decide if they want to issue visa based on new or old passport expiry date. I am going to include cover letter to explain the situation. I wanted to ask in this forum, if anyone has faced this situation? And if yes, then what was the expiry date on the visa you received? Is it based on new passport or old passport? Thanks a lot for your help!!

Hi, I am in the same situation. Did you submit both the old and new passport for stamping? Vfs mentioned to submit only current and valid passport, so I am confused. Did you inform IRCC about the new passport through a webform or any means. Please advise
