I received a letter from IRCC requesting a passport submission for my Canadian Permanent Residence application. The letter says that applicants in Canada only need to submit a photocopy of their passport, but those outside Canada must submit the original passport. I am an Indian citizen, currently in the United States as a visitor. Do I need to travel to India to submit my passport through VFS, or can I submit it from the U.S. through VFS Global?

How long will you be in the US? If you are going to be there for months, you can try submitting it through the US. Else, travel back to home and submit your passport to VFS India.
I got my Passport request on June 1st 2026.
Passport delivered to Ottawa from USA on June 9th signed by Joe.
no update after that - how long it will take - I came across one post where its been 3 weeks still no update on passports. it sucks to wait that long and specially its our passports keeping them so long its frustrating.

I know. I'm saying that even within the same country, the processing time is ~4 weeks. You can track better in USA->Can passport submission threads.
it really depends on the workload and where did you send your passports Ottawa?
Just to provide an update - I called IRCC and agent said - Yesterday Night COPR has been printed and passport are ready to print Visa and in printing room. so I am hoping it will be quick turnaround now. Thanks
