Hello, I am an International student from Bangladesh. Came to visit family for the holidays and deciding to renew my passport here since it expires next year.

My question is when I return, hypothetically speaking, I will have my new passport (new ID) but my study permit will refer to my old passport and my Canadian student visa stamp will be on my old passport. Will there be a problem upon entry? All documents will be valid (non expired, >3 months).

If there is a possibility of an issue I can just apply for my new passport within Canada after returning, it will just be cheaper and faster here.

You will need to send webform to update new passport number on gcms. I had similar situation in 2017, stuck at Istanbul connecting flight to Canada. Immigrations in Turkey took 2hrs to get my new passport updated, and i was able to be get boarding pass onward to Canada. There was no issue at all on my first leg, but last flight to Canada encountered that delay.
