Passport renewal after visitor visa application is submitted

Hi,

My mother has applied for visitor visa and it is in process.
We want to update her passport now as it will expire early next year.
If the visa is approved can we send the new passport directly?
Is there a way to update IRCC that we are renewing the passport?
