Hi All,
Just to advise you that I was able to apply for passport today (was amongst the first 10 people in line) and my name was already in the system. Took Oath on Dec 7th, travelling today and they told me to come pick up passport around 130PM, I paid for urgent fee $110. Just make sure your references and guarantor pick up the phone as they will call them live.
So to answer your question, even if they ask to wait 2 business days, you lose nothing by trying your luck to see if name on system. Also depends on your urgency. In my case business day#2 hasn't passed yet so lucky me I guess. I was a bit nervous as I anticipated that they would tell me that my name not in the system yet.

Of course they wouldn't do urgent for me as when I applied I wasn't flying the next day. I am flying out on Sunday and was told to try and see if it is in today. When I asked what I should do if is not they couldn't tell me anything. Of course I can't apply this afternoon (when I am supposed to check) for same day - too late - or next day - Saturday - as they will be closed.
I just don't understand why it is not possible to apply for urgent when they know that you are flying out on a Sunday and they are not open.

I applied for the passport on Monday. I'm travelling on the 27th. I paid $50 and pick up day is the 19th.
