Hello everyone,
I recently received my PR card through the mail. I am an in Canada applicant under protected persons. I have not received my passport(from country of origin) from the canadian immigration yet which I submitted when I declared myself a refugee . How long will it take for them to return it back? Do I have to write a request? Please help. Thank you

You have to ask for it back. Join discussions on this topic in the Refugee / Asylum section of the forum.

Make sure you avoid using your home country passport to travel once you get it back and do not renew it. Also, you have to absolutely make sure you do not travel back to your home country until after you have become a Canadian citizen.

Thanks for responding:). I am aware that am unable to return back to my country however I wasnt aware that I would not able to renew it nor use it to travel to another country? Who can I contact to get it back? Also do I have to give reason to request it back?

Using your passport to travel or renewing it (especially renewing it) can be regarded as reavailment which can create complications and delays during the citizenship application process. You should use a Refugee Travel Document to travel until you have citizenship and can use a Canadian passport.

Again, join discussions in the Refugee/Asylum section of the forum to find out how to get your passport back. You'll find several thread there that discuss this topic.
