My parents and I have applied for the visitor visa. While giving our biometric, the visa officer kept our passport. I have heard from other people that generally they don’t keep it and one has to submit the passport at the visa office after they get the approval. Does this mean anything?

No! If you submitted at the VFS then they are going to forward your application, docs and passport to the visa office. Dont worry they will return it to you once they have made a decision. Keep tracking in your CIC acct. Link you application online. follow the instructions here, https://www.caipsgcms.com/blog/10/H...-BASED-APPLICATION-TO-YOUR-ONLINE-CIC-ACCOUNT

Just for your info VFS people are not visa officers they are 3rd party agent working between applicant and consulate
