Passport is going to expire, Kindly suggest

Hi, I received my PPR yesterday for study permit (PhD). My Passport is going to expire in May 2024. However, my course duration is at least upto Sep 2025. Do I have to provide an explanation letter to IRCC at the time of sending the passport for stamping? Kindly suggest if anyone faced the same issue before.

1. No, they can see when the passport expires, so your study permit will expire when your passport does. When you get a new passport, and are still studying, you apply to extend your study permit.

They will give you Study Permit and TRV until the expiration of your passport. After that, if you need more time, will need to apply for an extension with the new passport
