Passport Expiry for OWP

Hello,

We are going inland route for PR + OWP. I am sponsoring my American spouse and his passport expires June 2020. Will his OWP be limited to when his passport expires? We are planning on renewing the passport but most likely after we submit PR + OWP application.

Yes the work permit will only be issued until the expiry of his passport. The work permit is linked to his passport.

Hi, sorry for delayed response. We're going to try to renew his passport before applying. Will mean application submission will be delayed unfortunately, but don't want to risk open work permit expiring just a few months after he gets it.

I think u can apply for the new passport and the pr+owp at the same time. Honestly thats What i did i apploed for pr yesterday and passport today, but again it will depend on the consulat of jis country, i mean if u apply now for the passport and pr, by the time they will open the app u will have the passport and can notify cic..thats my point of vue but again we never know what can happen right..anyways good luck to us !
