Hello I have a question
Once landed and apply for PR card will I get it initially up till the validity of my passport which is expiring 6 months after landing

Also, once i renewed my passport, shall I send my passport again to embassy for the new visa or shall I carry the old passport with the new one?

No, your PR card will be valid for five years from the date of issue.

Once you're a PR, there is no visa required to enter Canada. You can re-enter Canada with a valid passport and your PR card.

The IM-1 visa will be cancelled in your passport by CBSA during the landing procedure. It's no longer required or valid when you are a Permanent Resident.

Thanks for the answer

You will need to inform IRCC and get a new CoPR.
Thanks..
How should i inform ircc? Will it be through the same webform as in time of pr application..actually as my application shows approved, there is no link for webform now..

Hi @21Goose , @jaffaral ..any idea what will happen to my copr if i renew my passport before landing

Hi Similar case here as well..

My spouse' passport is expiring and we have given it for renewal now...

Should I inform CIC about the passport renewal itself now ??

or should I mention the new passport details in the IRCC webform once I receive spouse's new passport?

Since we have 30 days time to submit I was wondering how to go about this....

Wait till you get the new passport and then contact IRCC with the details. They may ask you to send them the new passport, so you need to wait till you have it.

If you don't have the new passport within 15-18 days, email the visa office (where you got the PPR email from) and inform them. They can give you an extension. Also submit a webform.
