Passport Damaged - Please Advice

Hope you are doing well in canada. Actually I am having same issue with my passport. It's a lill damage. I just want to know if I get it reissued how am I supposed to update the new passport number or other details with CIC after receiving PPR? Can u please guide me with procedure.
