Hi,
My and damily Pr will expire 2025 Aug. We could not fullfill PR obligation 730 days. If we will enter Canada from US border(Niagara), what chaces CBSA officer report us to revoke PR? What is your suggestion? Anyone who did like thwt, please share your opinion. You suggest to pass border by Car or by walking? Is there kiosk in Niagara border?

If you still have a valid PR card (which is what I assume you mean by "My and damily Pr will expire 2025 Aug"), why do you intend to cross via a land border? Do you currently live in the US?

No, but lawyers suggested me to pass over US, because less CBSA chanches will require to explenation about not entering Canada earlier

Well, not sure that's the best legal advice you could pay for. CBSA is pretty inconsistent in their application of the rules. More likely depends on the mood of the officer.

If a lawyer has suggested this pathway, then I suggest you ask him/her the questions you asked here. I agree with @Buletruck that this advice seems - at the very least - a little confusing, but as many here are, I too am hesitant to contradict advice you have received from a lawyer who (I assume) knows a lot more about your personal circumstances. Just make sure you are in fact speaking with an immigration lawyer (not a consultant) who is licensed to practice Canadian immigration law.

OP, can you u share your experience. I am also in the same boat.

Hi Robin,

You should be able to enter Canada at the Niagara border without much difficulty. In most cases, CBSA officers do not immediately initiate the process to revoke PR status at the border.

You can enter either by car or on foot—whichever is more convenient for you. However, be aware that the border officer may ask questions about your time outside Canada and could refer you to secondary inspection for further questioning by an immigration officer.

If that happens, they may advise you to meet the residency obligation and apply for a PR card renewal later. It is within the officer’s discretion whether to report you for not meeting the 730-day requirement, but many people have successfully entered without immediate action being taken.

Just be honest and prepared to explain your situation if asked. And yes, there is typically a kiosk or inspection point at the Niagara border.
