Unsure which forum to post but any information would be greatly appreciated. If better to post in a different forum that would be beneficial as well.
I'm a US citizen and recently purchased land in Bella Coola, BC with a business partner and his wife( both Canadian Citizens) who I have known for years.
The plan is to build a sustainable eco-lodge/farm in the area and run it from approx April- October. As an US citizen, what are my best options as far as visas? I know I can spend up to 6 months no problem but I may be required to stay for 8 months and I don't want to do a visa run all the way from
Bella Coola. Also it's always beneficial to have a some sort of visa in these situations as we will be running a business and hopefully making some sort of profit down the line. According to the form I filled out when registering for the site, I am very likely candidate for a skilled worker visa. Being that my partners and I would be running a business, would they be able to sponser me? and what kind of hurdles may I run into? I have plenty more backstory and information if needed to address my situation but I would love to hear thoughts and ideas? Thank you.

If you are doing work in BC - such as running a lodge - you need a work visa. It's not optional.

I understand that I would need a visa to work in BC hence the post on the forum for ideas, best options. The land is zoned for residential and commercial with a cabin on it already. The first year will be building the lodging so there won't be a business until at least the 2nd year. I would like to know what my best options would be for securing a temporary work visa once the time comes.

Try entrepreneur PNP. https://www.welcomebc.ca/Immigrate-to-B-C/BC-PNP-Entrepreneur-Immigration

You also need to be careful with the construction - if it could be construed that you are acting as the general contractor, that may be considered work.

Alternatively, once the business is running (if it isn't already) you co-founders could apply for an LMIA, though you may also be LMIA-exempt as you're a business owner.

You may want to talk to a lawyer on this one, your case is more complex.
