Hi !

My parents visitor visa and passport is coming close to expiry around end of this year.
We are planning to apply for new passport but I wanted to be sure about visitor visa:

Is there any provision to extend their current visa on new passport ( they’re in India presently. I’m aware of applying for visitor record when inside Canada and they’re not planning to visit anytime soon ) or we have to proceed with new visitor visa application?

No, there is no provision to extend. They need to apply for a new TRV.

As their visa is expiring in November, will they be able to travel around in July/August for a month as it’s lesser than 6 months close to expiry. And is there any timeline for application of new visitor visa depending on the expiry of current visa?

Yes, they can visit Canada as long as their TRV is still valid.

I don't understand your second question. The processing times for the new TRV will largely depend on your parents' home country and the processing times there for TRVs.

Hello @scylla
Since you are a VIP member, I posting a question to see if you could help.

I applied for my parents' visitor visa together as we are expecting a baby in Oct 2022. We originally applied in Julu 2021 on the gckey portal and reapplied in June 2022. My mother got her application approved, however, my father who was the principal applicant, his application is still under processing. Frankly speaking, I didn't provide any info about my mother other than her fixed deposit which was around 40% of the total funds shown.

Have you ever come across a case like this?
