Hi All ,

My parents visitor visa was rejected recently( applied in New Delhi) , reason cited was "I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay as required by paragraph 179(b) of the IRPR (https://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/regulations/SOR-2002-227/ section-179.html). I am refusing your application because you have not established that you will leave Canada, based on the following factors: The purpose of your visit to Canada is not consistent with a temporary stay given the details you have provided in your application.

This came as a surprise because my parents already had a visa in the past which expired due to passport expiry.

Any insights on what can i add to the application to resolve the cited concern ?

When did you applied for the visa?
Please check how to apply for reconsideration, I have seen guys discussing about that in some chats.

How much time have they spent visiting Canada and what length of visit were they requesting?

Having a past visa doesn’t guarantee a future approval

How long were there stays and how frequent were their stays ? Did they have any overstays ?

Did they abuse the terms of their visa privileges?

If they treated there last visa as being able to quasi live here , that’s a negative

We applied for my wife's parents in July and got rejected with similar reasons - ties to Nigeria, purpose of visit not valid, etc. We reapplied in September and just got approved yesterday. Turns out we didn't address the ties to Nigeria, at all, in the first application. We assumed these are aged parents - IRCC will understand.

The principal applicant wrote a letter to address this, attaching property documents, bank statement (even thou he is retired and the transactions on the account are stipends, family pictures of family children and grandchildren residing at home country, community and family commitments, etc. The rejection was mentioned in the letter and reasons for rejection addressed

For the letter of invitation we included our lease agreement and a description of the size of the apartment - that it will accommodate our visitors. We stuck to the purpose of visit even though the planned travel date was this October. We also included flight itineraries for both parents - booked a flight and canceled after few days.

Congrats. Hopefully the cancelled tickets were refundable.
