I’m confused about the correct portal/account setup for applying for my parents’ Canada visitor visa, and I’d really appreciate help from anyone who has done this recently.
I’m helping my parents with the application, but I’m not a paid representative. I’m just their child helping prepare and submit everything.

My confusion is mainly about these points:
- Should I use the old account or the new IRCC portal for this?
- Since I’ll be managing the applications, should the account be created with my email address or one of my parents’ email addresses?
- If I include IMM 5476 (Use of a Representative), should all communication from IRCC come to my email?
- If I’m applying for both parents together, can I manage both applications under the same account, or does each parent need a separate setup?
- Did you submit one IMM 5476 for each parent, or is one enough when both parents are applying together?
- If one child is helping both parents, should that child be listed as representative on both applications separately?
- Are there any common mistakes people make in this situation that I should avoid?
