Hey everyone,

I post here in desperation and in need of advice. My parents TRV application was refused today on grounds of 179(b) — insufficient ties, reasons not consistent with temporary stay.

I have lived in Canada for 14 years. Both wife and I are citizens with a 6 year old. Pregnant now with a baby girl and wanted parents to visit to celebrate my son’s 6th birthday and join us for my baby girl’s birth. I am sponsoring trip. My Dad showed 500K in liquid and real estate assets (with a CA letter signed) and 2 years of income tax returns. He’s a small business owner and we showed his business registration proof too (from govt). I also booked their travel. What else can I show at this point? Any help would be much appreciated.

As I am sponsoring trip, I showed my home ownership and rented condo and strong financial documents too. Please help me with any guidance coz I really miss my Mom and wish she were here during this time of our family.

Their visa was refused in February 2020 as well but I felt that was a weaker application and I understand officer’s concern.

This one I don’t understand.

You cannot "sponsor" a trip. Once you say you are paying for everything then IRCC doesn't believe that your parents have the money. For a TRV they show they can afford to visit. Your home, condo and documents are not their cash. If you told IRCC that spouse is pregnant that raises concern of overstay.

So your parents show their own bank statements. This is personal bank statements in each of their names. Assets/real estate are not cash in the bank

As for ties, they each show their own ties to return. Your dad has the business, but mom needs ties to like job, business, income property.

Why not supervisa?

Why are you sponsoring the trip when you state they have so much liquid assets ?

Thanks.

Mom needs ties? Does IRCC not believe in housewives who… don’t work? I didn’t think it through until now. They don’t have time to come for 6 months or more, so I didn’t apply for supervisa. If I do apply for super visa, can they still reject for “weak ties” or then, it will just be my income?

I left home 22 years back. And started making money 11 years ago. I don’t take money from my parents. Or handouts to buy a place in Vancouver. So I didn’t ask him to say that he will pay coz he really wasn’t. IRCC shouldn’t give a damn imo.

But, I understand now and will make changes for the next application.

Thanks.

Everyone needs ties to return, and their own reasons. Supervisa can be rejected for weak ties but lesser chance than TRV.

You made several errors in their application:
1. You saying you will sponsor their own visit. They have the cash so you in letter that they can afford own visit with their personal bank statements.
2. Mentioning pregnancy which leads to overstays (IRCC has the data)
3. Weak ties to return

I see, thanks. Next time I apply, my wife will still be pregnant though. So I don’t mention it at all? Or is it that a newborn is less reason to overstay than someone still pregnant?

So parents are just reapplying right away? IRCC already knows so cannot hide it now. If you waited until after birth then they say purpose is to meet grandchildren.

I have been in Canada 14 years and really wanted them to be here and also to see the house my wife and I have built. But, I understand.

Canada has the data to find out parents like mine will get the visa, immediately sell their businesses and land and totally abandon their home of 50+ years to live here.

This isn't about you but your parents (each of them) showing their own ties to return. They have no family ties so need to show other ties in each of their names. That is the way it is.
