Hello,
I am wanting to understand how CIC perceives not so favourable medical results for parents PR sponsorship
e.g my father has a kidney problem which is not an immediate concern however since the kidney disease is irreversible, can this become a reason for rejection?

While there are instances of CIC documentation which explains one of the reasons of rejection could be a medical condition which puts more burden on government however I am not sure if that condition is also applicable for family sponsorship as indicated here:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/inadmissibility/who.asp

Considering majority of parents at this age will have one ailment or other, I am interested in hearing if anyone has gone through a similar experience and what was the outcome

Cheers,

For parents sponsorship, if their medical costs in a year exceeed a certain amount, they could be refused. Also note that if one parent is medically inadmissible, both parents will be inadmissible

Medical conditions arent a factor for spouses or dependent children of sponsors

He might still be eligible. If his kidney disease is mild and has been progressing slowly, then his likely treatment costs might be under the threshold. CIC will look at the five year period; if there is likely to be significant costs later, they will look at a ten year period. As an example, my mother had kidney disease, but even at end-stage kidney disease, she had no costs to the system (because they were treating her with diet alone).
On the CIC website there is some information here:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/medic/admiss/excessive.asp

It does apply to parent sposnorship. They key is how much his care is estimated to cost per year. If costs to the Canadian health care system exceed $6,500 per year, you'll receive a letter from CIC that they intend to refuse the application for that reason and will then have to provide evidence to prove that his condition is not that severe and costs will be below the threshold.

It's quite possible your father will still be approved provided his condition is stable and mild.

Hi there my parents sponsorship is since Sept 2011 and my parents with independent of 4 children had an medical exam. My mother has a blurry X-ray result that leads to 6 months of treatment covered with the expenses. Now we are all shaken for what’s going on. This is their 2nd medical exam.

We are not sure if my the rest can come first and my mom to stay for treatment. It’s just very frustrating for the application.

We don’t know what’s the next thing we should do.

There's nothing you can do but follow the instructions you've been told to follow and wait. There's a very simple explanation for why the rest cannot come and your mother stay behind for treatment. Everyone has to pass the medical. If for any reason your mother is refused, all of your family members will be refused PR as well. For this reason it's mandatory that your mother pass the medical before the application can move forward. This is a basic rule of parent sponsorship.

It’s very sad and depressing for so many years we have waited and we have hope. I don’t know what to say... it’s just breaking my heart into million pieces. But I truly appreciate your response. Thank you

Yes - your father can apply for a super visa provided you meet the income requirements.

The funny thing is we reapplied before my mom to for supervisa and we are overjoyed with the pr application updates and took off the application for the supervisa. If I knew this would happen in the begginning I would let her stay and extend her supervisa and do the medical here in Canada sooo depressing...Thank you

My parents had a medical this week for PR. However, my father has a hearing problem and he uses hearing aid. And even then his hearing is not that great. Can it be a ground for refusal?

Today my parents are done with medicals. My father got operated 28 years back and had a major surgery . Stunt was put while doing surgery.m and he has short term memory loss as well . Doctor somehow mentioned that it could be problem in approval . What do you guys suggest ? Can he be rejected on medical grounds ?
