Update today: 7 months. I have stopped hoping for anything to come through in 2026.
This is so dumb. Interestingly, it says people applying today should be processed in 30 months which is less than the time it has already taken for us, not counting 7+ counting months that we still have to go. How stupid!

IRCC announced today that it is no longer accepting any PGPP applications until further notice. While it is frustrating that our applications seem to be taking forever, I consider myself lucky that my application is under process. I hope we all get our applications processed soon.

Today I noticed that Background check went from In Progress to ' Not Applicable'. Has happened to other 2023 applications too.

My submission is Dec 2023 and application is stuck in enhanced security checks

something similar happened to me - and gcms notes showed that application went from "In Progress" to "On Hold - Verification activity".
this was back in Jan 2025. 18 months later and it's still on hold.
I submitted the application in Nov 2021.

This also could be due to applying from Quebec because family sponsorship was on hold.

Wish people would appreciate this. I have been saying this to anyone complaining about processing time for years. Anyone who has received parent sponsorship is incredibly lucky and most going forward will unlikely be able to sponsor their parents. The length of visit on a supervisa is creating the false sense that parents will be able to remain in Canada longterm and many appear to have not planned for their parents to grow old in their home countries. Sadly Canada will likely have to deport some seniors and hospitals will likely become much stricter when it comes to providing non-emergency care to foreign nationals without upfront payment since most are running deficits and have no extra capacity. Most are not in the position to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars of care. Even if you sponsored your parents many are not prepared for costs like bed fee for longterm care which is typically ~2.5k/month. Although many hope to care for family at home that also comes with costs and is not always possible.

I think it's related to security, because that's the only step remaining. Gcms notes show that they are waiting for something from their external security partners but doesn't specify what exactly.
CSQs were obtained in 2022 and all other steps (eligibility, criminality, medical) have passed.
