We have tried via MP too, they simply confirmed what we knew that file is stuck in comprehensive security reffered to CBSA. I have talked with few people and everyone said it takes around 18-24 months after file is referred. Btw my parents were working in Indian Railways. Getting a bit worried as it is taking very very long time.
I'm in a similar situation. I applied in Nov 2021, and the background check started in May 2023 - it's been almost 3 years now. Everything else is completed except for security screening for 1 parent.

Parents PR application in process since October 2022.
GCMS notes: Comprehensive C check since 2024

I see quite a fee people stuck to get their parents PR from year 2022. I’m in a same boat. Applied Dec 2022 from Ontario parents in Pakistan . Medical done in 2024 july PCC submitted 2024 sept since then no communication. I have been in regular contact with the ministry but only one response that the application is in security clearance and they cannot expedite. My mom passed away dueing the process. And irony is when i applied visitor visa for my father it got rejected based on no ties back home. Even then though my parents visited me like 6 7 times. Even my father visited twice on previous visa alone after mother passed away. I re applied the visa but stuck therr for 3 months. I think i did a mistake of telling them that our PR application is in process.
Anyways it is frustrating specially when you have one parent and cannot come to Canada. We are worried of my father health but we are in dilemna coz we cant leave our jobs for long time. All out siblings are outside Canada.
Is there anyone going to seek lawyer consultation? Would it help?

Given sponsorship is never guaranteed and the ability to visit is also not guaranteed don’t you have a plan B like hiring a caregiver in Pakistan? That seems to be a very easy and affordable solution.

I contacted MP of my area, they told me this The MP liaison also confirmed that there was a response to the message sent on my behalf earlier this month. They said that “recommended interview not assessed”, which I was told means that they haven’t decided on an interview date. The request was sent to the Islamabad office, and a request to schedule an interview will be sent directly to the applicant. The MP’s office will not be made aware.

What does that mean? Does it mean an interview is required or will be scheduled? Never heard an interview for pgp applications. Anyone has any idea?
