Hi,

My husband became permanent resident of Canada in June 2015 but his income in 2015 was 0 and in the subsequent years that is 2016 and 2017 his income was 60 k and 48.5 k respectively. He has to file his 2018 taxes yet.

My question to you is if my husband files his tax for 2018 on 1 January 2019, would he be eligible to sponsor his parents on 2 January 2019 under family class?

Thanks,

If you live in Quebec - then it might be possible.

Otherwise no. His income in 2017 was too low. He'll have to wait a few more years before he can qualify.

Do you happen to work in Canada? If so, your income can be included in the calculation which might change things.
