Hi,

Wondering if anyone knows of any other routes to get my mother up to NS to live us. I have applied for parental sponsorship but fear if we are not picked, I am at a loss of what to do. She just turns 70 this year, and cannot stay where she is, as she now is not classed as resident in Jamaica (based off work permit of my father who recently passed) and she will be asked to leave. She has no other family, no support in JA anymore and I am concerned with her being temporarily here? I spoke with a lawyer and they said there is no way other than parental sponsorship, seriously? When she has no other family for support and no where to live?

I am really stressed and need some advice. Obviously supervisa will be applied for, but surely there has to be another way!

I’m no expert but I think the Supervisa would be your only option unfortunately.

What is her country of citizenship? Like if she is asked to leave Jamaica and can’t come to Canada where can she legally live in the meantime?

If her husband passed and she has no other family back home, she might have a good chance at applying under humanitarian and compassionate grounds, but to do that she first needs to be physically in Canada. Should probably try to apply for a supervisa for her first, and then H&C
