Parent sponsorship question: transfer case to a different location

hi there:
My situation is below:
I've filed parents sponsorship in July 2010 and currently is still quietly waiting in the huge backlog in Toronto.
Once the first phase is done ( basically to verify I am qualified to sponsor them), their case will be transferred to Beijing , China for the second phase.

here is my question:
Can I ask CIC to transfer the case to seattle , WA as they will come to vancouver this year to live with us for at least 6 months. Seattle is the closest city to Vancouver .

CIC will ask to fill IMM0008 forms for folks ( should be in few months time ), in there you can request for Office Location ( You can only do so where your folks have been legally allowed to live for 1 Year ) so unless they are allowed to live in USA for 1 year, you cannot ask

- P.S - Seattle office is no more, closed down
- You can ask for ottawa but your 1 year rule applies ( i.e, in Canada on visitor visa with 1 year extension ( that too at time when this form will be filled out )
- You are technically suppose to choose Beijing only, and they might transfer to Ottawa as per pilot project themselves but its luck of the draw

Agreed. CIC may chose to transfer your file to the Ottawa pilot project themselves.

But otherwise the one year rule applies. This means that your parents can only chose to use a visa office in a country where they have been initially admitted for a period of at least one full year. Coming here on a six month visit won't meet this criteria.

So the short answer is no - you can't ask for the file to be moved.

Best is to get them on Supervisa, ( 2 year ) then you can pick Ottawa - I think

Question for you guys: I applied for my mom in 2011, and at the time my parent was here but for only less than 6 months. She has been in Canada since the submission of the application. As per the new rules in 2011, I already did filled out and sent the IMM0008 form, and requested LVO on the form. Should I notify them that my parent has been in Canada for more than a year and request Ottawa as the visa office? Because, I don't think I will fill out another IMM0008 form as I have already done so.

If its not assigned, try but due to its integrity, they might not do it
