Hi!

I have applied Express Entry and got AOR in Feburary. And in April, I got an offer from a Canidian company. They are trying to help me to apply a Work Permit. However, as my PR application is still in progress, they a worried about if this would affect my Work Permit application, as it would present opportunity for immigration officials to further scrutinize the bona fides of my upcoming work permit application. And, as my PR is in late stage (says "Your application is in progress. The next step is to conduct a background check"), they also don't suggest me to withdraw it.

Is anyone here with experience on this situation? I am totally lost now...

BTW, if I apply Work Permit instead, can I reuse the medical exam report I used for PR application? It is still valid as I took it in Feburary.

Thanks for your help in advance!

Yes, getting a WP may influence your PR application... I've seen cases when this delayed a PR application by prolonging the BC. But I've not seen cases where the WP was rejected because a PR application was already in progress (but I've never looked for that so it doesn't mean it's never happened)

Will this be an ICT or LMIA based WP? For LMIA based then you're looking into a lengthy process and your PR will probably be issued before your WP... For ICT it's much quicker, but then you should make sure the documentation aligns well with the reference letters you've provided.

Yes you can reuse the same medicals.

Good luck.

Thanks, at least I don't need to withdraw my PR application, that is a relif :)

Mine is a LMIA WP, they say it would take 6 to 8 weeks to obtain the LMIA, really a long process. After the LMIA is obtained, do I need to update my PR application with this information?

No you don't need to inform them. Good luck.

Why would applying for a WP delay your background check?

I think I read this on the GCMS notes thread, it seems that after successfully getting an ICT the candidate found various unusual remarks in his notes for EE application. At the time it seemed that the ICT and the reference letters weren't aligned (ICT said he did one thing while the reference letters perhaps claimed something's no else) which caused the office to question a few things. Perhaps it was on the 6+ months thread, as the applicants main complained was that his application was taking a long time and one of the hypotheses at the time was his ICT.
