I actually think that YOU should be the one to call them. This way, you'll hear EXACTLY what they say, instead of hoping that whoever calls for you tells you everything. Or...hire a lawyer to make the call for you, if you have money to burn.

Look...the truth of the matter is that you are NOT the only person in Canada without status! Those without status (non-criminal) are the lowest priority (level 4) for any removal action. Since you are married to a Canadian and have a child together, I supect you're even on the low end of level 4.

The chances of you being contacted by CBSA today are probably the same as they were 6 months ago, because you had done nothing to fix your problem then. Now that you have submitted an application...CIC may (or may not) share your lack of status with CBSA. When the information from your application is eventually uploaded to the CIC computer (or the barcode pages are scanned from the forms that have them), it's certainly possible that your lack of status will [somehow] be highlighted in the system. Even if CBSA instantly `sees' this information, it's not likely that they're going to jump in a car and race to your door. As mentioned, VioletBlue was lucky, but there have been those here in a similar situation (married with children) that were NOT. I remember hearing about someone that WAS taken out of their home, in front of their children. Perhaps there was more to that person's story, but the bottom line is...you need answers on your situation.


They're not going to jump through the phone and arrest you for being in Canada illegally! I suspect that they will be thankful that you're doing something to fix this.

Ask them the quations that need solid answers and decide what your next move is going to be.

I'm sorry to jump in like this. I don't reall know what's going on here. But I really don't think it's a great idea to withdraw something you had put effort in. I mean if you try it out you will have at least 50% chance to win. But if you don't your chance will be zero. Just leave the country go somewhere else to have fun. If this app gets approved, great! Come back. If it didn't, you just keep your life wherever you are happy with and life goes on. Hope you will make the right decision.

While the worse case scenario would be that she is removed from Canada and issued an Exclusion Order, the fundamental question is...how likely is that to happen? This is probably why she decided to withdraw it and submit an Inland application instead. Since we haven't yet heard what she was told by CBSA, we just have to wait...and wait...and wait.

Hopefully, they told her to cancel the request to withdraw her application and that she'd [likely] be allowed to stay.

My husband was out of status, we submitted outland, got the COPR in about 4 months. Trust me, we went through hell deciding what to do, kicking ourselves for being dumb, lots of anxiety. I didn't even check ecas system once because I was so nervous. Then the thing just showed up, no problems at all. Thank god for the odd Xanax pill, lol.

In my mind nothing is worse than DOING NOTHING! Get it over with, do the best job you can, fill out everything perfectly and ask questions here, and you can do it. If my paranoid, anxiety ridden butt can get going on it anyone can.

Hopefully she has canceled the withdrawal of her Outland application (since it appears that she still hasn't called the CBSA).


Just out of curiosity...how long was your husband out of status before CIC received his application?
