If I came into Canada from the US with my passport as a visitor in July & my lawyer sent in the papers for inland spousel sponsorship & an OWP on December 19, 2019 & got an AOR on February 17 that my application was received December 20,2019. The lawyer also sent in the application for an extension on December 22,2019. My question is since I am a visitor will it take longer than the than the usual four months for me to receive my OWP?

In my situation based on the above post should I expect my OWP within the usual 3-4 months? Or will they have to approve my PR eligibility first & won't be able to get a OWP until close to the end of the process?

If you were in status when you applied for the OWP, you should get it within the 4 month time frame.

To Qwertypod. What does status mean? I entered the country using my us passport & Nexus which automatically allows you to stay for six months as anyone who enters from the us can stay for six months unless border control stamps an earlier date. Was I in status when I applied based on the information I gave?

Status = not in Canada illegally.
