So to say I’m in a pickle would be an understatement. I’m an IEN from the UK, and was working as a nurse in BC. Not to go into the nitty gritty, but after 2 months working, my manager has placed me on an indefinite unpaid leave until I pass some further exams. I’m also on a closed work permit. I’ve applied for the owp-v as My position is a unionised one and contravenes the local agreement. What do you think are the chances of getting approved as I can’t work to fund these exams on my current permit?

This is a contractual disagreement, not abuse by an employer as defined by the IRCC

You can’t then say you want to go back and work for them after you pass the exams if they’ve been abusing you

To this also appears to be a request to remedial skills training. That said you can speak to your union. This is not a vulnerable worker issue if there are well documented concerns you need the extra training.
