Hi Guys,

I am software engineer and planning to land in Canada next month on TRV. I want to know about OWP. I heard a temporary resident can apply for OWP. Below are my question, Can you guys please answer.
  • - How much time it takes to get OWP?
  • - Do I need employer to get the OWP?
  • - What is the success rate of OWP? In which cases OWP can be denied?
  • - What are the charges to get OWP. From localities I heard the charges are less, but if you need to arrange empluyer then it cost more. I want to know the cost for both of these cases?
  • - Can I changes the employer on OWP? Let say, my immigration layer arrange the employer for me and what If I want to change the employer.

Thanks,

You have completely misunderstood the rules. You will be in Canada on a TRV, so you do not qualify for an OWP. OWPs are only granted in very limited and specific circumstances.

You are confusing TRVs with TRPs. Individuals on TRPs can sometimes qualify for an OWP. A TRV is a regular visitor visa. A TRP is a special permit that is difficult to get and is reserved for people who are otherwise inadmissible to Canada - typically due to a crime.

If you apply for an OWP once you are in Canada, refusal is guaranteed. All the TRV allows you to do is come to Canada as a visitor.
