Hi
I'm concerned about my parents. They entered canada on 1.09.2019 and were due to leave on 15.04.2020. But due to flight cancelation they are given another date which is 01.05.2020. And still its not sure that flight operation resum8or not. Now the problem is they will overstay their 6 months limit on 29.04.2020. Is there any info about overstaying extension or etc? Does making visa extension application is compulsory because they both hold valid visa till 2021.
Regards

IRCC has announced no exceptions to overstays due to COVID-19. Best option is to apply for an extension to keep their status in Canada legal and in case their future flights are canceled as well.

Just because they have valid TRVs until 2021 does not mean they can stay here that long legally.

Apply to extend their stay. It’s cheap and provides them with implied status and prevents an overstay on their record.

The instructions from IRCC are clear, to be able to stay in Canada in spite of covid-19-related circumstances, they have to apply for an extension or restoration, wherever applicable:

Hi , My parents visitor VISA is set to expire on June 12. They were supposed to leave on 7 June but the flights are cancelled due to current situation. We applied for the extension of their VISA more than a month back but have not got any response till now. What should we do.?

They can legally remain in Canada while waiting for a response to the exception.
