Yes - this can be an issue if she wants to return in the future.

If her status expired less than 90 days ago you should apply to restore her status. The restoration application must reach CIC before she has been out of status for 90 days.

If it's over 90 days, you can't resolve her status from within Canada. In that case she should leave Canada as soon as she can.
