just wondering if anyone can help. i have an out land spousal application in progress, I am the sponsor and my wife is the applicant. my stepdaughter is on this as a dependent, she is 20 years old. her plan was to accompany us to Canada when it gets approved. recently she has been talking about not coming, keeping her life here after she finishes university next year. you all know young adults and how they change their minds. I am wondering what happens if everything gets approved and she still doesn't want to come. will that affect my wife's PR? is there any legal problems with my stepdaughter going thru the process and then simply not arriving in Canada with us? Any help would be great

Thanks in advance

There will be no issue if she decides not to come with your wife. Your wife is the primary applicant and can land on her own.

One very serious thing for your step daughter to consider is that this may be her last chance to very easily get PR status in Canada. She doesn't have to move to Canada right away. All she needs to do to take advantage of this opportunity is to travel with her mother to Canada, "land" in Canada and become a PR. She can return immediately afterwards - same day or next day if she wants to.

She is not far away from turining 22 once she is 22, she will be too old to get PR through her monther and her "easy" opportunity for PR will be gone. IMO you should really try to convince her to travel to Canada and complete landing formalities to officially become a PR. Once she finishes school, she can decide if moving to Cnaada is of any interest to her.

If she doesn't land and waits a couple of years to finish school and decide what she wants to do, this opportunity will be gone.
