outland sponsorship application done completely online?

Hello, I am wondering if an outland spousal sponsorship application is possible to do completely online or if I would need to physically send in documents etc.
The reason is that my Chinese spouse and I would like to spend our time in another country (instead of China) while we go through the process of this immigration if possible.
It would be quite inconvenient and expensive/insecure to be sending things back to the China office from outside the country if it was necessary!

There is no online applicaiton process - mail in only.

Thanks. Other than the initial application, is there much other interaction needed? I guess in case of return of documents for necessary clarifications etc?

It depends. It's always possible CIC may request additional information.
