Hello,

I was wondering if I can get some insight about our IRCC application status. We submitted July 11, 2024 and received AOR September 2024. Everything was moving quickly and then we got to background checks and have been there since December 2024. Naturally I decided to send an email yesterday asking for an update and received this email today:

Good day,

Thank you for contacting the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) Office in Mexico City. We understand that you are seeking an update, as the general processing times have passed. Please note that we have flagged your case to the responsible unit for awareness. However, actual processing times may differ from the estimated timelines posted online due to various factors, including the complexity or uniqueness of individual applications.

Each case is assessed on its own merits and may require different processing times. For more information, we encourage you to consult the following link: https://ircc.canada.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1169.

Thank you for your continued patience.

Should there be any concern? This whole process has stressed my husband and I out, mostly me because I’m impatient!

I’ve also ordered notes a second time but I haven’t received them yet.

The email you received is a canned response. No need to be worried about what it says.

I assume you are not a Quebec applicant?

Background checks can sometimes take a while depending on the applicant's profile.

Thanks for responding! I will try not to worry too much.

Yes, I am applying from Ontario and my husband is in Dominican Republic.

Can someone please help me clarify: I am the principal applicant. My current country of residence is the UK, but I'm from Bangladesh. Application lodged on 5th June, 2025. Is it gonna be a problem if i move back to Bangladesh during the processing? If i do, what steps should i take in regards to the application. Thank you.
