Hello!
I am about to file my paper work to sponsor my Thai wife to Canada, I'm confident everything is perfect so all good on that end. Two questions :

1- The wait time on CiC web site for outland family sponsor application for Thailand is 13 months, just correct me if I'm wrong.

2- My wife and I are expecting a baby now! I would like to bring her over to Canada before the 13 month wait, on some temporary visa. I understand those visitor visa are very hard to get, and she doesn't have a big paying job in Thailand. What would be my best option for bringing her over early ? I just don't want to be away from her during pregnancy, for obvious reasons, and also because we already lost one baby after 4 months, so I'm very inclined to have her with me this time. Otherwise we just have to sit and wait and hope for the best...

Thanks to all

I just want to give you my two cents worth, as below:

1. Per processing time, as of October 31 2016, the Spouse or common-law partner living outside Canada in Thailand takes up to 28 months; Sponsor's assessment is 27 days.

Please find this site for your quick reference. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/index.asp

2. Since you're expecting a baby, your app might get approved immediately but still it depends on how well you've had presented your documents and if you have submitted the complete docs upfront.

Hope this helps. :)

it is common knowledge that the posted processing time for outland applications are NOT averages, and a majority of applications are actually processed in much less time, often half the time listed.

expecting a baby has no impact on the processing of an application. to even suggest a application "may get approved immediately" because of pregnancy is very misleading.

1. so i'd recommend search the first 2 pages of this forum for a thread specific to the thailand visa office. you will be able to get information for how long it's taking people actually going through the process there.

2. it is quite difficult to obtain a visitor's visa when an application has been submitted. it is not impossible. i think the number 1 factor is the applicant needs to be able to show significant ties to their home country so CIC is convinced they will not just leave and stay in canada. There are threads dedicated to this topic too, so scanning the few couple of pages may prove helpful. also, member Mikeymike was successful doing this for his wife...
