Hi,

I applied for Spousal sponsorship outland in mid-Dec 2014. I did my up-front medical in July 2014, so it will expire in July 2015. I am still waiting for SA, hopefully getting it this month. Applicant's visa office is Hong Kong which has a 9-month processing time.

During the stage 2 review in the coming future, the medical will be expired before the end of the 9-month period.

My question is: should the applicant do another medical in Jun/Jul 2015 and mail to Hong Kong Visa Office (or to CPC Missisauga?) before CIC's request, or wait for CIC's request before doing the medical?

To avoid delay, I believe the applicant should do the medical in Jun/Jul 2015 (because need at least 2 weeks in advance to book for a med appointment) before CIC's request, but I am not sure if CIC is okay with another voluntary upfront med submission when the application is already under process.

Any opinion?
Thanks!!

Wait for a request.
CIC sometimes extend Medicals for another year.if you redo one without being asked to,it could end up being a waste of time and money if they end up just extending it.

I see. Thanks for your reply! Is it common though? Or do they extend it based on some criteria?

No problem!

As far as I know, they will ussually extend it if your application isn't far off being approved.
Since your visa office has an average wait time of 9 months and you sent your application in in December, yours probably won't have too long to go when your medical expires.
So I imagine they would probably just extend it,to save themselves the hassle.
I could be wrong though!but I would say they will probably just extend it.

And yeah it's quite common!they extended mine in January and I've heard of a lot of others getting theirs extended :)

Haha good to know! Thanks!

any chance they extend the medical for FSW outland as well? mine is expiring on 18 Feb & current stage is IP2, still not asked for new medicals

They do for sure extend medicals.. I got my CoPR on Nov.22, and my medicals were set to expire Dec.2. They extended my medicals until June of 2018 on my CoPR. (assuming since usually CoPR expires when your medicals do if it's far enough out.)
