Our Canadian friend married a lovely fellow from a visa exempt country. They lived in Canada for 3.5 years after he got PR then returned to his country for a good work opportunity he was offered in early 2011. They have bought a house and she found full time work as well. He was given notice of his citizenship exam, but was unable to write it on that date as he was traveling for his job at the time. He subsequently wrote and passed the exam with no difficulty. It is getting close to a year since he wrote the exam and he has not heard a thing about a date to take his Oath. I know nothing about spousal sponsorship but wonder if they could face any issues with the delay. Once the exam is written does the applicant still have to maintain a specific number of days in Canada in a time period? Is it possible that he may get an RQ if he has been residing out if Canada or will the fact his Canadian born wife lives with him provide security for his PR status?
Thanks for your input.

He is not yet a citizen until he attends the oath and his PR must be in good standing for him to get citizenship.

However, his PR is not in any danger as he meets the PR residency requirements as long as he is living with his Canadian spouse.
