Well, my journey with CIC is coming to an end. My wife is picking the visa/COPR tomorrow and I'm going back to Vietnam to pick her up on March 17th and coming back to Canada on April 5th. Thanks to everyone on this forum, it make the waiting a lot easier to bear knowing that I'm not alone during the process. Best of luck to all and hope you reunited with your love one soon.

Hi all,

New to this forum and have went through this thread. Sounds discouraging to see some ppl have been waiting nearly 2 years! My application only got received 6 weeks ago in Singapore, and initially I figured it would only take 6-8 months. In the last 3 years (since I met my wife) I have been back over 10 times now, and I'm starting to feel frustrated flying back and forth all the time!

Although my approval for sponsorship only took me 3 days (in Mississauga)...

How strong is your application? Can you give us a background of your relationship?

Hi Guys, may I ask a quick question? When you receive the passport request from the Singapore Visa office, do they notify us by mail, telephone, or email?

How can we measure how "strong" it is?

Just to give a background. I'm 28 and my wife is 22. We met 3 years ago. We got engaged in Jan 2012 and Married Jan 2013, both times in Vietnam. During that 3 years, I have been back to Vietnam about 9 times, where I took her to Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand. I work for a global firm and make a comfortable salary.

As for the package I sent, mainly the forms and a bunch of pictures from all our vacations, engagement, and both sides of the family. I don't have any phone records since I only used phone cards and now Skype. All the hotel trips are only under my name unfortunately. I did get all my paper-work stamped by a lawyer and the Embassy of Vietnam.

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Wow, that's a lot of visits in a 3 year span. I haven't been back since we got married 2 years ago and the next trip for me is to pick her up. When I submitted my application I included everything that I had (Receipts for wedding, hotels, plane tickets to visit her and honeymoon, gift receipt for her birthday, wedding card and others) along with Skype call log, emails, facebook messages. If you have additional communications you can send it to SVO. It will only strengthen your case.

Did you communicate with your wife via emails or facebook? What about receipt from the wedding, gifts

Hello all,

I became Canadian Citizen from last year, I went back to get married with my wife in Vietnam. I already sent my application to CIC to sponsor my wife under Family Sponsorship and still waiting from Singapore Visa Office. I am planning to go back Vietnam to see my wife in this July because I can not wait no more longer to see my wife.

This is my time line.

CIC Received my application: November 16, 2012
Received Approval Sponsorship Letter: December 07, 2012 (On Online Status show: "Sponsorship Application Status: Decision Made") (Forwarded to Singapore Visa Office)
Singapore Visa Office Received application: December 20, 2012
And now showing: Sponsorship Application Status "Process", Permanent Residence Application Status "Application Received"

Anyone has any ideas about my application, and what does it mean to change from "Decision Made" to "Process"?.

Thank you,

Harry

Just to let you know, CIC does not accept phone cards because there's no way to verify if they're actually being used to call your wife. Other than that, you seem to have a strong application because of your many visits, so I don't know why your application is taking so long.

I took me 5 weeks to get the marriage certificate 2 years ago and I went for 6 weeks. Anything you buy for the wedding, asked them to write both names on the receipt.

I got mine in 2012 and it took 4 weeks in Vung Tau. I got my medical done in SG and got the results in three days.
