Bah, I am going mad waiting for so long. It has been almost 2 years since the application was sent and so many couples have been approved.

Anyone on the interview list got the 2nd letter yet?

If you read the 2nd sentence I did ask if anyone received the 2nd letter for the interview - meaning my wife is still waiting for the interview date. There are no documents missing.

how come IOM says my wife has to buy her ticket at IOM, what are the procedures when going over to canada that my wife has to do or bring? problem is my family over there wants to buy the ticket over there and not send money here. And IOM says that we need to book tickets through them and they supply us with an IOM bag and require vacine history, and photo of my wife's lungs. I dunno at this point I just want this to be over with and get back to canada asap.

Thanks for yoru reply Bold

Anybody knows what is going on at SVO? Could it be that the officers in charge of granting visas are laying their lazy bones on the beach in Hawaii or Pulau Mali? They have been holding my wife's passport for months now; she can't travel anywhere for her business. Such an inefficient system with no watchdog to discipline the lazy and heartless tax money spenders.

I would send an e-mail to your MP and also cc singapore in that e-mail to let them know you are inquiring into the matter. They might speed things up if they know they are being watched. These guys have way too much power.

I am in the same situation as you. Same date of sponsorship approval and date received in Singapore. My wife is also going to interview because our situation is complicated. Involving a child from a previous relationship, age difference between us etc. We have not received any date for the interview either. The letter states that it can take as much as 24 months for the interview. I believe your wife received her request for interview in Oct or November of 2011. When I first read it I thought it was a letter of discouragement but now I think they weren't kidding about the 24 months. What you can know for sure is that in the next 8 months or so our wives will receive a letter with interview date/time and place. The interview is usually 4 to 6 weeks after receiving the letter. I sent an enquiry a month ago because the processing time keeps going up. In Singapore the bastion of quick service it is now 26 months to process 80% of the applications. I asked them; when I first received my approval it tock 18 months to process now it takes 24 months which one do I consider to be more correct? They sent me a response with a lesson on statistics instead. A bad one at that. That the processing time were calculated from past data. What they failed to say was that 2 years ago they were processing more people in less time. Less applications now takes on average 8 months more than to years ago to process. Approximately a 35% increase in inefficiency. They rank as the 5th slowest high commission that Canada has around the world. Before this increase in processing time increments were by 1 month every 3 months now they increased it by 2 months. The number of application to singapore has decreased slightly. So the bastion of governmental service that is Singapore where you pay to get the finger when you ask a question. A polite finger but a finger just the same.

I believe all this delay is because of the politics the conservative government is playing. I went to speak to a lawyer in December to review our application to see if there was something wrong or an omission etc. I asked the lawyer why everything was so behind. She answered that the government is cracking down on fraudulent marriages and they are taking their sweet time to verify things. I really do believe this is all politics. The government wants to look tough on fraud and abuse of the family class sponsorship and other classes. I don't think singapore VOs are taking vacation but rather just following orders.

I agree. However, it is really unfortunate that Singapore VO (and a few other VO) takes so long to process an application where as most visa office (such as New Delhi VO) finishes 80% of the process within 8 months or so. Seems there is no accountability for this discrepency in time. If Singapore VO is processing more files then other VOs then why not put more Visa Officers in that office.

Also, it is so troubling that if the applicant is put for an interview line, then the interview may take place 10 months from the letter. This defies any human compassion.

Singapore has to take care of more cases, because they are in charge of case files in most of asia.
