Hi,

So here's the situation. In my country, we don't have last names. Most people only have one name, for some customary reason, we had 2.

We have names like "Name Name2" on Birth certs. Name2 is not necessarily a middle or last name.

When I first made my passport 10y ago, also travelling to Canada, we added our Dad's Name2 to be the last name because we needed a last name.

So now that name stuck and on my current passport, it's still "Name Name2 DadName2".

1. Do I even need to provide my birth name in my profile (Passport: Name Name2 DadName2; Birth: Name Name2)? It's not really a name change, I think.

I'm wondering, just like CEC doesn't need to provide proof of funds, are all fields shown a generalization for all application streams? And that some don't really apply.

Also, I did all this verification when I applied for my initial study permit. They should have all my info by now right?

The reason is, to legalize it at my local embassy, I need to travel back home, take my birth cert to my country's foreign affairs department to be certified, which will only certify it after it's certified by the justice department. And my pgwp expires in 1.5m.

Lastly is this true: Certified photocopies are not necessary anymore because you scanned the original, and it only applies to paper-based applications?

Thanks!
