Just wondering if it's better to send original letters/cards, or if we can scan them and print them off that way.

Also, for the gifts we've given each other, is it OK to take photographs of them and print them off?

Thanks guys.

(PS - this 'gathering of evidence' stage of the application seems so very daunting!!!)

For letter and cards you can photo copy them, because you might not see them again. You can take pictures of the gifts given with each other as well.

Need to be detailed for every evidence.

Good luck.

That depends on the VO processing your application. OP, which is yours?

For example, mikeymike (sorry if misspelled) can tell you all about Singapore. Ours out of Manila however, wasn't so detailed. 60 photos (no pics of the gifts we exchanged), 2 or 3 original cards (photos and cards we all received back), and a relationship story 3 sentences long. As you can see, your mileage may vary by VO.

Thats what I wanna know too.

But I would just send photocopies of memorable cards (To prevent misplaced by CIC agents) :P
Really cannot guarantee the original copies can be returned to us, without any damage. Coz those are OUR PROPERTIES.
Those can be very very meaningful/ memorable stuffs that cannot be created again. (say the first card/ first love letter you received)

Pictures can be printed out no matter what. As long as the original digital format is in your PC.
Gifts….ya just take pictures of them. No one wanna send a Cartier/ Rolex watch to CIC as evidence :P

Thats only my opinions, tho. Pls correct me if I am wrong :)

SVO sent all our original photos and post cards back. Anything that was photocopied they didnt return.

I sent them original photos, letters, cards and received them back yesterday, together with my COPR

You're one of the fortunate ones, as some here have reported never getting their precious originals back.

To the OP: Why risk sending an original, when a scan will suffice?

Ours will be Singapore. I've heard stories enough to raise my eyebrows with this VO.

Thanks all for your advice - the scanning will commence! :)

Our letters were written in Italian, i guess there is no sense in including these in package? better to have friends reply to me in english regarding trips or marriage and include these?

You can always include them as well as a certified translation if you'd like!

right, seems like these translations are going to be rather costly!

It is better to send them all in original, as for the gifts just list all the gifts you received and you gave together with receipts or visa statement.

Haha, awwwww you mentioned my name, I'm so touched!!!! :D :D :D :D :D

Hey my application is being filed through singapore VO as well. My wife and I send love letters, cards, private photos of us when we were young. I just took those and crammed them all together on a photocopier and print out 11x17 sheets. The sheets show the envelopes, with my address/name as sender, hers as receiver, and vice versa. They also show the dates mailed.

As for large gifts that can't be photocopied, yes I took a photo of them too and just wrote an explanation on the back what it was. I had to take pics of stuff like our large guestbook from wedding, photo studio albums, wedding DVD, etc.

The only original stuff for relationship proofs that I sent were the wedding invitations (one was in Vietnamese for Viet guests, the other was in English for young, English speaking guests). We sent originals because we want the VO to see the detail spent in making them (the English one was Superman/Spiderman style done by my wife). We didn't mind sending originals because we had like 20 copies of each ;D

Haha, actually I think because this wedding card was custom made by my wife, and it's silly superhero style, it might make our relationship seem more genuine :D
