Hi ,

My son who is above 18 , going to apply for citizenship. As a language proof does he need to submit his original High school diploma from Canada or the copy could suffice ?

Anyone having application "in process" please share your experience .

Thanks

You have to submit photocopies only for all the required documents for citizenship application. Originals for verification when you get test and interview invitation.

I don't have any application "in process" but is clear from the instruction guide itself that only copy - clear and legible - is required not originals.
Do not send any originals with your applications as they may NOT / promptly returned.

See below:
CIC Instruction Guide says:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/CIT0002ETOC.asp#language

2. Language proof if you are 18-54 years of age
Select one of the following types of proof to submit with your application:
.
.
Proof of completion of a secondary or post-secondary program conducted in French or English, either in Canada or abroad, includes:
.
.
Format: Clear and legible photocopy. Must be in English or French. No translations accepted except for foreign diplomas, certificates or transcripts (see note above in section 2).

Only copies of all docs because you will never get them back from CIC. It doesn't have to be a notarized copy.
