Options for Getting Implied Status While Waiting for AOR of PR common-law

Hi everybody ! I hope you are all good in this extraordinary situation !

Due to the COVID-19 I entered the following difficult situation and I don't know what should I do and which is the best move :

2.5 weeks ago I did submit by delivery mail my PR common-law application without applying for BOWP ( Bridge Open Work Permit ) because I was in the middle of the process of applying for Close Work Permit with new employer.
Unfortunately today, 4 days before my current work permit expires, I have been told by the company, that due to the pandemic, they put my application "on hold" for non specified time frame.
Does this means, that from the end of this week, I will be without status ?
Do I enter implied status automatically after I submit the PR common-law application? Or the implied status comes only with the AOR ? So, what I should do now, given my AOR will come maybe in 2 months or even longer because of the pandemic ?

Also in the process for the new close work permit started with the company, we did submit the LMIA, but no decision have been rendered yet. I presume the LMIA don't give me any implied status, as it is only market assessment.

I'm thinking of those two options if one of them or both could be a good move now :

Option 1 - Apply for Visitor Status
Option 2 - Apply for BOWP by paper ( I did read, that since I have not apply for it along with my PR, the officer will look for AOR in my profile and so if I apply apply online the application will be reached out faster and then rejected because my AOR number won't exist yet )

And another question : within how long will it take to get my application number ( acknowledgment or AOR ) for both previous options and does this means, that by paper is always slower ?

PR application dose not give you implied status

You can send an application for Open Work Permit (paper), but if it reaches them after your current permit expires you wont be eligible; Try sending express post be you might be lucky and it will be received before your current permit expires. If you send it tomorrow, you will have 3 days before your current status expires. You might also want to apply to extend your stay as visitor (online) before your current status expires.

I do not know if submitting a receipt and confirmation of online submission for the application to extend your stay as visitor, together with your OWP application will help your situation

You will also have implied status if you submit an application to extend stay as visitor before your current permit expires

I only did read, that if I apply for BOWP way earlier than the AOR for the PR is for about to get issued, the BOWP could be rejected because the officer will look for the AOR into my profile and since it don't exist yet an rejection can happen.

Indeed, this combination looks very unclear from my perspective of view too but probably worst case scenario the BOWP can be rejected so I would need to apply for it later on again.
Would be strange if both get rejected as they are two different applications.

When this whole Covid-19 situation has simmered down a bit, call IRCC. They should be able to give you more accurate information on when and how to apply for the work permit.

I tend to the same conclusion myself as well. Just to do what will work for the moment for sure and then do updates.

They can apply for the OWP even now (paper) as along as they have valid status; or once they have extended their stay as visitor. They wont be able to apply online until they get AIP (Which is towards the end of the PR application process).

Best you apply to extend your stay....it will take sometime; the current processing time for online applications is 103 days.

IRCC is not taking any calls now one of the effects of COVID.

Not sure about this; I know one can submit an application to extend their stay or restore status together with their OWP and PR aaplication; CIC would normally start to work on the extention/restoration of status. Not sure if one can submit an application to extend stay together with OWP after sending the PR application.

Even if it was possible, your main concern should be timing; your current status expires in 3-4 days, the OWP application needs to be sent by mail (paper) not online.

If you are sending them together, meaning application to extend stay (Paper) and OWP (paper) they have to mailed/couriered. if it guaranteed that your package (status extenion+OWP) will be delivered within 2 days then you should be ok i think. otherwise the package might arrive after you are out of status and you wont qualify for OWP.

I would suggest you apply for the visitor extension online regardless.

Then if if you want you can also send in the OWP application tomorrow via xpress post/courier hoping it gets delivered quickly.

Stop looking at BOWP requirements. You can't apply for a BOWP. Those are for economic applicants. You are applying for an OWP based on an inland sponsorship app, which is completely different.

Mail the OWP app ASAP and apply online to extend your status as a visitor.

Oh I did think that BOWP and OWP mean one the same thing for the inland sponsorship ! Thanks for correcting me !
Looks like this is the best course of action and so then later on once those two are submitted I will be eligible to apply for the close WP once the situation gets "unlocked".
