Hello,

I have already applied for my PR under the FSW program (part of EE). I am getting married in April to my boyfriend who is a Canadian Temporary resident (Post-secondary work permit) and he would be applying for his PR separately with provincial nomination or FSW. To avoid a delay in my PR process, we are keen to declare that we are married but not add him as a dependent. He would not require my sponsorship as he can get a PR under experience class, PNP, or FSW.

Can I complete my application without having to add him to it and just declare to CIC that we are married?

Thanks for your help.

No. You must include your spouse or common-law partner in your application. You can elect that they are non-accompanying but that makes no sense in your situation. If he also has an application in progress, he must include you as well. Once you marry or qualify as common-law, there is no possibility of completely separate applications.

We aren't applicable to be a common law partner now or till the time we get married. Could you let me know how long a delay to expect?

Assume that it will add a couple of extra months after you add him, depending on exactly how far your application has progressed. It's really impossible to be precise.
